Skype is adding more functionalities to the service in order to catch up with other messaging apps that users love. Just recently it introduced encrypted conversations for enhanced user privacy and now, the latest Skype preview build 8.26.76 includes support for read receipts. This means that from now on, Skype will let you see on the spot who exactly read your messages.
Skype rolls out read receipts for Insiders
Skype made the announcement on Twitter being anxious to get user feedback as you can see in their tweet below.

According to Microsoft, the feature is available in 1:1 conversations and group chats with a maximum of 20 people. You will get to see your contacts’ avatars below the messages that have been read.
Availability of the new feature
For the moment, the read receipts feature is only available for Skype users who are running the latest Insider build. These users will be able to turn the feature on and off in settings. The tech giant also explained that the new feature would be disabled when you’re switching to Invisible mode.
This latest preview build for Skype started rolling out to Android 6+ and iOS 10+ devices. It’s on its way to the desktop client for Windows, Linux, and Mac. Users will not be able to officially download this version of Skype on the latest versions of Windows 10 unless they open this page in Internet Explorer and after that, run the installer in compatibility mode.
